M O O S E W A R E

Mooseware is my personal software development company. It's mostly just a hobby, (though I have made some money... shhh!), and I hope you (or at least someone) enjoys using my programs as much as I enjoyed making them! I specialize in games, so you'll find a majority of games here, though there are graphics intros and utilities as well.

If you've played or downloaded my programs, I want to hear from you! Mail me!

Ludus picture - Snowman thing

Ludus / Anathema
Ludus is the new RPG engine being developed by Twisted Pair. I am one half of Twisted Pair, so Ludus is partly a Mooseware product. Anyway, the idea is to create a flexible and intuitive tile-based RPG environment, similar to the Final Fantasy series, but for the computer. All of the editing tools will be released so that (presumably) RPG fans can make games themselves (Kind of like the almighty ZZT). Anathema will be the first game for Ludus once the engine is done. To learn more about Ludus, go to the Official Ludus/Anathema Pages.

Escape 1.0
This fantastically addictive and engaging puzzle game is the newest release from Mooseware Development. It features 50+ levels, including a tutorial, as well as a level editor and XENCODE/XDECODE for sending levels you make to friends via e-mail! To read more about Escape and download it, go to the Escape Web Page right away!

DOS/VGA (320x200x256)/486 recommended/mouse/brains

Tomopoly version 1.4
This is MonopolyTM done Mooseware style! High-resolution colorful VGA art, realistic (albeit funny) Adlib/Soundblaster/PC speaker sound effects, excellent mouse support, and more! The messages in the game are even customizable! Please try it! =)
DOS/VGA (640x480x16)/2 player/386 recommended/mouse required/Adlib&soundblaster supported/ASCII text editor required to customize game.

Eye-pong!

This very small little game pits you against yourself (or another sapient being if you are lucky) in a game of PONG - only the familiar square white ball has been replaced with a mysterious EYE. $1,000,000 to the first person who guesses how I got the name for this game. =)

DOS, mono vga, 2 player, 386, approximately 2k.

Documentation is displayed when you exit the program with [ESC], but basically the left paddle is controlled with the A/Z keys, and the right with the 6/3 keys (on the numeric keypad).

Most Certainly Not Pool 3.6

This is a strange game. You and your opponent (or the computer - 5 different AI levels) each control a different colored ball. You try to get the white ball into your opponent's hole, and he/she/it tries to get it into yours. There are numerous powerup icons which can assist or hinder you, such as bombs, ball swapping, hole swapping, control reversal, and many many more!

DOS, VGA (320x200x256), Adlib/Soundblaster/PC speaker supported/386 recommended/2 player (computer player available).

Echofire! (This picture doesn't quite capture the effect)

This East Coast Hacking Organization (a subsidary of Mooseware 1996) "intro" displays a fire effect which is calculated real-time! Commented TASM source code is included, which covers virtual screen pages, fire effects, fading, and more! Highly recommended for the aspiring demo programmer!

DOS/VGA (320x200x256)/386 486+ recommended

ECHO VRT

ECHO VRT is a very small Echo 'intro'. It displays the message "ECH0" on the screen in 320x200x256 and flashes the background, which has trance-bringing abilities. Source code covers bitmap to bytemap conversion, bit/byte anti-aliasing, and pallette rotation. Neat!

DOS/VGA (320x200x256)/386

Static 2.0 (again the picture doesn't quite cut it)

Static is another ECHO "intro". It displays a amazingly fast "snow" effect on the monitor. Two other versions add sound and a logo. Commented TASM source code for all routines is included! Source covers "snow" effect, fading, masks, and PC speaker sounds. Hypnotizing! =)

DOS/CGA? (320x200x2)/286?

This is a self extracting file: 26k compressed, ?? uncompressed. (STATIC.COM is only around 100 bytes; most of the space is taken by source and the mask include file)

Pong 2.0!

If the eye in EYEPONG frightens you or you want to take on a computer opponent, try Pong 2.0! 2, 1, or 0 player action! Variable computer AI skills, new sophisticated math to calculate the ball's movement, and more! PONG 1.0 also included for slower computers.

DOS/EGA (320x200x2)/386 highly recomended/2 player (computer player available)

Utilities

Mana Rags 1.1!

Manarags (anagrams) is a utility for creating anagrams. Given almost any input -- for instance "Thomas Murphy" -- it will output a list of possible anagrams (that is, words or phrases with all the same letters in different order), like "My Mouth Harps". Lots of fun! Includes extensive wordlist (1,100,000 bytes), or supply your own. Includes WORDS, will output words contained within input phrases/words; for instance, "Trophy" for "Tom Murphy", used for pre-processing for Manarags.

Note: Manarags 2 totally replaces this program, and you should get that instead.

Comedit 1.7!

This extremely fun program lets you modify the text in your COMMAND.COM to change the error messages and commands in DOS! Quick and easy to use! As of now, it only supports dos versions 5.0 and 6.22, but more versions will be supported eventually! This is a MUST HAVE for all DOS users!!

Dos 5.0 or 6.2.2 required.

Self extracting file: 57k compressed.

Ted: the Mooseware text formatter v 1.0

This utility will take an ASCII text file which has lines which run past the margins and format it so that it can be printed or viewed more conveniently with a text viewer. Quick and simple.

DOS requried.

Self Extracting file: 52k
