Tom Murphy 7, information.

Okay, here's where I'm supposed to fill up space talking about myself. Hmmm... well I suppose maybe first a picture would be in order:

It will load up eventually, hang on...This is a picture (a newer picture) of me. Whoopee. (Hey look, it's in COLOR now!)

My full real name is Thomas Walter Murphy VII. I happen to think it is a pretty good name, though on occasion I have been known to go by several other names/handles on the computer and elsewhere, including Frood (that's a Hitchhiker's Guide allusion) on irc, ImightbeTM (as in, I-Might-Be-Tom-Murphy, a They Might Be Giants allusion), Asterisk (as in shift-8 on your keyboard, the little * thing. Really. Actually I am planning to name my second son that, so if you want to marry me -- and they're knocking down my doors, believe me ;) -- you had better get used to that idea), Propellor (in network games of Quake), not to mention impersonating the main character from a book I'm 1/2 through writing: Leaf Spelling (and to many computers in the US, Leaf Spelling is a real person; he even has a Columbia House membership card and gets Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes mailings).

Download a wav of me shouting "NO!" (handy Windows sound effect!) [NO.WAV]
Download a wav of me laughing maniacally (another handy Windows sound!) [HAHA.WAV]
(To download these in Netscape for Win 95, wait for the NaPlayer to pop up, and right click on the window. Then click on "Save As...")

Superhero Tom This is probably the best picture ever taken of me. It was taken by Mark Morgan, my photography class partner, and it's probably the best because it's the only photo which makes me look like a Super Hero.

I'm a recent graduate of Hamden (Connecticut) High School, and right now I'm kicking ass at Carnegie Mellon University (in the Computer Science department). During the summer I'm working (teaching classes and beating people in Quake) at the Eli Whitney Museum, (I am also sometimes webmaster at EWM; check out the page!) I also an amateur computer-game-programmer (see Mooseware and Ludus/Anathema), and an amateur Typographer (see [Divide By Zero] Fonts!).

My dear friend Marc 3 was kind enough to do this relentlessly inaccurate but supremely cool autobiography of me. A boy I don't know wrote another even more inaccurate biography of me. Anyone else want to do one?

Here's an ancient Tom 7 factsheet.

[I'll believe anything once.]
